Hosting Requirements (Technical)

Web Management Studio is developed using Microsoft's ASP.net development environment. The following web hosting services are required for successful deployment.

Web Server

  • Microsoft Windows 2003 Server (or later)
  • Internet Information Services IIS (version 6.0 or later)
  • Microsoft ASP.net Framework (version 3.5 or later)

In addition to the basic services defined above, the server should be specified with the following minimum configuration. These values should be increased depending upon load/activity conditions and data storage requirement.

  • 1GB RAM
  • 5GB of available disk space
  • 512MBs network connectivity (bandwidth)

Database Server

  • Microsoft Windows 2003 Server (or later)
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (or later)

In addition to the basic services defined above, the server should be specified with the following minimum configuration. These values should be increased depending upon load/activity conditions and data storage requirement.

  • 2GB RAM
  • 5GB of available disk space

SMTP Server

Many Web Management Studio web sites provide services which require SMTP email service (membership registration services for example).

The hosting environment should provide a SMTP service, either from a dedicated server or, possibly, as a service running on the web server.

Notes

  1. In low–load installations it may be possible to run both the web server and the database server from the same physical device.
  2. Security must be a prime consideration when designing or selecting the hosting environment.
  3. Unless you have professional experience in designing and administering such an installation, selecting a third–party hosting solution is the most appropriate option. Please contact your Web Management Studio's Account Manager for options and advice.
