Case Study :: Sanyo Air Conditioners

Sanyo (Air Conditioners) is one of the world's leaders in the field of air conditioning equipment and contributes to the development of various types of energy saving and improving systems.

Background

Sanyo Air Conditioners supply their European Dealer Network from one centralised distribution centre.

To ensure both competitive advantage and operational efficiency, there is a requirement for the Dealers to be able to ascertain the stock holding and estimated delivery lead time on both products and spare parts.

Prior to using Web Management Studio, Sanyo had used a number of methods to provide this data to their channel partners including fax, email and telephone enquiry. None of these methods proved satisfactory from either a security or convenience viewpoint and were also labour intensive.

The Requirement

Sanyo wanted to provide their channel partners with the necessary data via a secure web site, that is to say an extranet.

The Solution

A simple web site was developed using Web Management Studio that allowed Sanyo to directly export the relevant data from their Manufacturing and Resource Planning system (MRP). This data was then presented on the web site using a simple cataloging system that allowed users to filter and search for the required information.

Security to the data is provided via the default Web Management Studio User Membership and Subscription Services, thus ensuring that access can only be gained by users that have been positively authorised by Sanyo.

A simple and cost effective method for our Admin staff to update our Extranet. I was very pleased with the speed of implementation.
