Abilitation Limited - Company Overview

Abilitation Limited is a privately funded company whose focus is the ongoing development of the 'Web Management Studio' Web Content Management System' (WCMSWeb Content Management System).

Our company is based upon three founding principles:

1. A strong working knowledge of the technologies that relate to the Internet, specifically those applicable to web design and deployment.
2. The development of web based applications that leverage those technologies.
3. A close relationship with our customers to ensure that our products fit their needs in the most accessible and usable format.

Furthermore, we believe that Web Management Studio is an excellent example of a good WCMSWeb Content Management System (not perfect, but we are getting there!), but, we also recognise that it can never be the right product for every customer ...

A Brief History ...

In January 2002 one of our customers asked if we could provide them with "a simple facility for updating their news pages" on their web site.  They wanted to update the pages on a daily, if not hourly basis and it was not practical to refer each request to an external web developer.

As often happens, upon further investigation with the customer, the request was not quite so simple: The news pages were organised into categories and sub-categories and there was a requirement for providing a full text searching and archiving mechanism!

We created an elegant (as opposed to 'adequate'!) object-orientated, hierarchical data model, complete with a 'tree' like user interface component and simple text editor.  This development effectively became the first, if somewhat embryonic, version of Web Management Studio.

Today some years, ¼ million lines of code and close to 100 web sites later, we are still engineering elegant solutions to our customers' problems so that they don't have to!
